02 Character Lighting Study - Low-Key Lighting

Hi everyone! This is another character lighting study that i did. For this study I wanted focus on Low-key lighting. After searching for multiple references i decided to go with this shot from Joker (2019). This shot had all the elements i was looking for like high contrast between lights and shadows, deep dark tones and dramatic mood.
In this project, I did the texturing in Substance painter, Shading and Lighting in Maya, rendered using Redshift and final composite in Nuke. For lighting, I've used 5 lights. Key light, Key wrap, Two Rim lights and a fill light. I exported all these lights as a separate light group along with other AOVs so that i could tweak them further in comp without having to render them again for minor changes. This study was all about practicing and learning new skills along the way.
Thanks! :)
